Just hours after a terrorist shouting “Allahu Akbar” beheaded an elderly worshipper and stabbed two others to death inside a Nice cathedral, the former Prime Minister of Malaysia took to Twitter to glorify the terrorist attack in France, Europe. He said –

“Muslims have a right to be angry and to kill millions of French people for the massacres of the past,” Mahathir wrote this in one of the tweets, which was later removed from Twitter for violating its rules.

He also said “But by and large, the Muslims have not applied the ‘eye for an eye’ law. Muslims don’t. The French shouldn’t.

“Since you have blamed all Muslims and the Muslims’ religion for what was done by one angry person, the Muslims have a right to punish the French,” Mahathir tweeted, referring to a man who decapitated a French teacher earlier this month.

“The French should teach their people to respect other people’s feelings,” he added.

Mahathir had 1.3 million followers on the microblogging site – Twitter which he used for posting a series of 13 tweets glorifying violence and Islamic terrorism.

The tweet sparked an angry outburst on social media with many users calling out the former Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir.

Reaction from the World on the Attack –

The Nice attack was condemned all over the world including India, the United States, Australia, Turkey, Britain, the Netherlands, the Vatican, and the European Commission.

Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi tweeted, “Our deepest condolences to the families of the victims and the people of France. India stands with France in the fight against terrorism.”

The President of the United States, Donald Trump also condemned the terrorist attack on France.

He said – “Our hearts are with the people of France. America stands with our oldest ally in this fight. “These Radical Islamic terrorist attacks must stop immediately. No country, France, or otherwise can long put up with it!”

The Terrorist Attack on France

This comes following French President Emmanuel Macron‘s criticism of radical Islam after a school teacher, was beheaded by an 18-year-old for showing cartoons depicting Prophet Mohammed in class.

Nice’s Mayor Christian Estrosi said the attack was similar to the beheading earlier this month near Paris of teacher Samuel Paty, who had used cartoons of the Prophet Mohammad in a civics class. “Enough is enough. Now, it’s time for France to exonerate itself from the laws of peace to definitively wipe out Islamo-fascism from our territory,” he said. It was not immediately clear if Thursday’s attack was connected to the cartoons, which Muslims consider blasphemous.

French President Macron did not blame Islam or Muslims for the teacher’s beheading but has recently stepped up his condemnation of Islamic extremism in France.

Some 263 people have died in terror attacks in the country since the assault of the office of satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo in 2015.
