With 38,310 Fresh cases in a day, Active cases have fallen below 5.5 Lakh in India

The number of new coronavirus cases reported in India in the last 24 hours has now fallen below the 40,000 mark! This has taken the country’s coronavirus tally to 82.67 lakh, while the total recoveries crossed the 76 lakh-mark, according to the Union Health Ministry’s data updated on Tuesday.

Authorities reported more than 38,000 new cases in a matter of 24 hours, taking the total tally to nearly 82.7 lakh in the world’s second-worst affected country because of the Corona pandemic. This includes over 1.23 lakh deaths and 76 lakh patients who have recovered.

It is the ninth straight day where the total number of fresh Coronavirus cases has been fewer than 50,000.

This has come after India saw a September peak after which cases have been constantly decreasing.

The slower pace of daily infections and an improved recovery rate have led to a sharp decline in active cases. The Health Ministry in an official release said“Active Cases comprise only 6.83% of the total positive cases of the country. In a span of just two months, the percentage of active cases have reduced more than 3 times”.

On 3rd September, the percentage of active cases was 21.16%”.

India has tested 11,17,89,350 samples tested for coronavirus up to 2nd November. Of these, 10,46,247 samples were tested on Tuesday, informed Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).

Covid-19 cases surged in Delhi

A total of 4,001 new cases, 4,824 recoveries, and 42 deaths were reported in Delhi on Tuesday, taking the total cases to 3,96,371 including 3,56,459 recoveries, 33,308 active cases, and 6,604 deaths.

A surge in active cases of Covid-19 in Delhi recently has been due to the festive season, greater movement of people, and laxity in adhering to safe Covid behavior, the Centre said today adding that efforts will be made to increase testing in the sensitive and critical zones such as restaurants, market places, salons, etc.

Strategies for containment of the spread of the pathogen in Delhi should be strictly enforced and implemented, Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla said on Monday while reviewing the Covid-19 situation in the metropolis.

National Recovery rate climbed to 91.96% 

A total of 76,03,121 people have recuperated from the Coronavirus infection so far, pushing the national recovery rate to 91.96%, while the case fatality rate stands at 1.49%.

The ministry said on Monday that 78% of the recoveries were from 10 states as Union territories. Kerala and Karnataka have contributed the highest number to these with more than 8,000 cases and Delhi and West Bengal follow with more than 4,000 cases, according to the ministry’s data.
